Today I am thankful for holiday traditions.
Merry Christmas everyone! For me holiday traditions root me to my grandmother and more so on Christmas Eve than today. What I now love as a mom with my own kids is that I get to cherry pick the very best traditions passed on by my mom and grandmother and add to them for my own kids. Some things are funny – like the fact that there M-U-S-T be a trash bag to quickly collect all the gift wrapping paper. Some are sweet – like the fact that my kids love getting stockings full of little things almost as much as they look forward to ‘big’ gifts. Luckily I have a real fireplace in our home because when we were kids my mom used to set up a cardboard ‘fireplace’ with a light bulb in place of the flames. How we didn’t burn down our apartment I have no idea!!
