Talk is starting up already of attending BlogHer 2009.  I wanted to go for the past three years, but one year I was pregnant, and well, the next I had a newborn.  Not very easy for me to travel by myself either time.  This year I think I may be able to swing it, as the newborn is now a toddler, and for once I have childcare (my mom is with us most days of the week now that she’s unemployed).  Part of the problem is that I can’t justify the money to go, as we haven’t even taken a family vacation in five years, and it doesn’t look like we will anytime soon.  Jet-setting off to meet a bunch of women I don’t know to attend a conference to feel like a grownup again is just too much to ask for.  There is something about connecting to other women who ‘do what I do’ that would make it so rewarding.  A good deal of women I meet locally have no idea what a blog is (or a podcast!) and don’t really see any reason to be on the Internet except to send chain emails, watch funny You Tube videos, or buy airline tickets.  Sometimes you have to just be around your own kind…

Erin from Queen of Spain blog is giving away a ticket to BlogHer, on her own dime from what I can tell, and as much as I would love to go, I think I would have some sort of guilt attached to that.  It’s not like it’s a corporate ‘handout’, and I don’t exactly have the most trafficed blog around to grab the attention of, well, anyone.  So another year will go by with all the craziness and hype and great knowledge and memories of BlogHer, and I’ll read about it on a bunch of blogs.  Kinda funny if you think about it!  So for right now I have to sit it out for another year and see if I can catch it when they finally decide that Philadelphia would be a great city to host BlogHer 2010!  I can catch PodCamps from time to time, but I wonder if there is a BlogCamp?  Maybe there should be.
