A new +eMarketer article states:

"According to the study, women with a smartphone or tablet were more likely to restrict activities like social networking and emailing to a mobile device, leaving the desktop or laptop PC for other uses. Men, by contrast, were more likely to use IM and online banking exclusively on a mobile device."

I've actually had conversations with women about this type of behavior. There are quite a bit of 1-computer families in my town and it seems the women will take their smartphone or tablet and surf/chat social media sites while the household computer is being used by other family members (gaming, bill paying, homework, etc.) What this tells me is, in these instances, women are more likely to let others use the computer instead of 'holding it up' with activities of their own. Five people, four pieces of pie – mom doesn't like pie any longer….
