I have owned many businesses. (I’ve worked at a good number of other people’s business as well.) I’ve failed at a number of them. Sometimes I failed ‘just enough’ to walk away at a zero-sum loss and some new skills and sometimes I failed with spectacular debt and a years-long crushed ego. I keep trying. This time around my husband and I have slowly built a business on the experiences of failure and the knowledge of the ghosts of past businesses. To be honest, now that I’m in my mid 40s I’m a bit more content to just stay put and grow something rather than spin off to something new. In my head it is more like growing roots where I’m at rather than having seeds blow in the wind.
