The Tale of Two Birthday CakesYesterday was *NICE*.  We had a low-key party at the house for my husband and Kidlette since their birthdays are four days apart.  Next week is the kids party and it would have been too hard to have friends and family over at the same time.  The Mr. and I kicked our butts making food and getting ready (and now have more leftovers than we had food eaten!)  I even went as far as baking two birthday cakes – one for each of them.  While the cakes were pretty much the same (chocolate and banana) they turned out very different!  At least they tasted good (it was boxed cake, as long as you follow the directions and don’t get egg shells in the batter, you’re good).  The cake my mom finished up for Kidlette even had little swirls in the icing for decoration.  The cake I made? Well, good thing my husband loves me so much.  The cake wasn’t pretty.

What I realized this morning was that I really wasn’t online yesterday – too busy with hanging out on the patio and chatting.  It was really nice.  I’m back to the grind this morning, and could really use a cup of coffee to temper the Mario Kart headache I feel coming on (Kidlette got this Wii game for her birthday and LOVES it!)  Maybe I should grab a slice of birthday cake to go with the coffee…
